About Dr Alexandra Garcia-Rosales

I’m Dr Alexandra Garcia-Rosales, a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and former Lead Psychiatrist for Kensington and Chelsea Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, with over 10 years’ experience as a consultant within the NHS.

I have worked with children, adolescents, and families across the UK, France, and Spain, which has shaped a flexible, culturally attuned, and systemic way of working. My clinical experience spans a wide range of presentations, including anxiety, low mood, trauma-related difficulties, neurodevelopmental differences, sleep challenges, and complex school and family dynamics.

I have carried out extensive systemic training, I have an ericksonian hypnosis masters degree and am a sleep counsellor.

In 2024, I was awarded a PhD in psychiatry focused on ADHD (cum laude). This reflects a longstanding commitment to clinical excellence, to keeping my psychiatric practice up to date, and to engagement with psychiatry beyond day-to-day clinical work.

Alongside clinical practice, I am currently part of European Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ESCAP) guideline groups focused on telepsychiatry.

I work fluently in English, French, and Spanish, which can help families express themselves with greater ease and precision. All psychiatric work is delivered within UK professional, ethical, and legal frameworks.

I have carried out extensive systemic training, I have an ericksonian hypnosis masters degree and am a sleep counsellor.

My Way of Working

My work is grounded in biopsychosocial formulation and a holistic understanding of each child or young person.

Rather than focusing on isolated symptoms, the aim is to understand patterns, underlying mechanisms, and what may be maintaining current challenges.

A central part of the work involves reflection and reflexivity — supporting young people and families to notice patterns, consider different ways of responding, and gradually develop more adaptive and empowering responses.

Emphasis is on strengthening understanding and agency within the family, so that progress can continue beyond the clinical space.
